Step 1: Save Your Money
You cannot quit your current job unless you have enough savings.
When I decided to quit my engineering job, I know I had enough savings to last at least 12 months without any income. I also cut down my monthly spending budget. These savings gave me security and ease of mind to pursue a new career.
Step 2: Proof of Work
Start building something related to Bitcoin.
Not a software developer? That's fine. You do not need to become a bitcoin core developer. You need to show employers you did something to contribute to the bitcoin ecosystem. Start a podcast, blog, or make educational content like I did.
Step 3: Network
Network with everyone you can who is already established in the bitcoin industry.
Networking separates you from the rest of applicants. It can be as easy as replying to social posts with thoughtful comments or sending a DM offering your time and skills for free. Build up a network of bitcoiners by interacting with others every single day.
Pursue these 3 actionable steps for 6 months and start applying to jobs in the bitcoin industry. Your odds of landing a job will be exponentially higher.
