Here is a short story about the time I faced death and then decided to go all in on Bitcoin.
Emergency Surgery
I almost died in January 2020.
After not being able to go to the bathroom for 4+ weeks, I knew something was wrong with my body. The aches and pains were unbearable. My parents picked me up from my apartment and brought me to the emergency room at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
The doctors were not really sure what to do, but they know they had to act fast in order to save my life. The surgeon opened up my stomach with 13 incisions in emergency surgery and was able to make a temporary solution. The surgeon told me if I waited another few days I probably would have died from constipation.
Turns out, the problem was due to Crohn's Disease, a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes swelling of the tissues (inflammation) in your digestive tract.
Post Surgery
While healing for 5 months, I had a lot of free time on my hands since I was on temporary leave from my 9-5 engineering job.
I pondered my professional career as an engineer during this time. I knew I wanted to eventually shift my career into business. From my near-death experience, I concluded that life is too short to be pursuing a career I am not passionate about and I needed to make the leap.
The leap was a brand new career in business centered around my passion for Bitcoin. In early 2021, I quit my engineering job and started Bitcoin EDU, a Bitcoin education platform. From there, I applied to Bitcoin Magazine and landed a role as an account manager where I am currently still employed.
It has been about 2 years since I went all in on Bitcoin and it is the most rewarding decision I ever made in my life.
Nowadays, I am grateful for every single day I get to wake up and work in Bitcoin.
