💡 Daily Reminder: Stay humble, stack sats
Bitcoiners,
One of the best ways to help someone start their bitcoin journey is to gift them some sats.
This will achieve 2 results:
The feeling of owning bitcoin and watching the value of the asset goes up over time (NgU).
The "ah-hah" moment when realizing how fast a Lightning transaction is.
Both of these results lead to some kind of curiosity down the road, opening the door to wanting to learn about bitcoin, rather than being forced.
Here are some different methods and easy-to-use tools to gift bitcoin to beginners so that more beginners are onboarded to the network while having reputable educational resources at their fingertips for further learning.
Method #1: Lightsats
Lightsats makes it really easy to gift bitcoin to beginners using the Lightning Network and is my preferred choice.
With Lightsats you can:
Gift sats and if unclaimed they will return to you.
Track the progress of each person you tip to see how much educational content they consume.
Use their onboarding to assist with downloading reputable wallets.
I created a $1 (5969 sats) tip below for someone reading this to claim and try out Lightsats for themselves. Just scan the QR code with the camera on your phone.
And no, I was not paid to endorse this product. I just wish something like this existed when I first started my bitcoin journey!
Method #2: Swan Bitcoin
Swan Gifts is a great way to gift bitcoin to beginners using On-Chain base layer bitcoin and adheres to all KYC and AML banking regulations.
The steps of gifting bitcoin this way are fairly quick and easy:
Sign up for a Swan Bitcoin account yourself.
Create a Bitcoin Gift with a custom message.
Enter the recipient's email and hit send.
From there, the recipient is prompted to sign up for a Swan Bitcoin account and claim their bitcoin within 30 days. Once created, the recipient will have bitcoin in their name with access to endless bitcoin educational content from Swan encouraging them to withdraw to a self-custody wallet. Note, this is only available in some countries.
Like Lightsats, I was not paid to endorse the Swan Gift product.
Happy Sunday,
-Pod
